Gudhjem - God's home on Bornholm
Visit Gudhjem - a unique small mountain town in the northern part of Bornholm with about 720 inhabitants (2013). Gudhjem - also known as "God's home" - is a solid plank for most of the island's guests, and we can recommend you to spend more than a few hours here, Gudhjem is far more than the steep stone street with shops, cafes and restaurants and the harbor. In fact, you can get some experiences with you home from Gudhjem and the small fishing village famous smokehouse, which is quite unique in Denmark.
Gudhjem - Denmark's only mountain town
Gudhjem is Denmark's only mountain town built in the rocky terrain of the archipelago and up the 48-meter-high mountain range Bokul. Try to climb Bokul - on top you are rewarded by stunning views of the city, the red roofs, the harbor and the sea. Continue into the great forest on the other side of the road to the 'secret' forest lake Gråmyr with the many beautiful red and white water lilies. Here you can enjoy the almost healing silence, and in late summer also pick blueberries.
Holkadalen and Coffee castle in Gudhjem
Up on the ridge, you can dive into the beautiful Holkadal with the tall trees where gudhjem family in the old days, meetings and parties.
