Horne round church - Preben Bille-Brahe Mausoleum,
burial place for family from Hvedholm Castle |
Horne Church is located 5 km west of Faaborg, and is Funen only round church, built in granite in 1100 t. Round ship may have originally had two storeys. In Gothic times the church was extended with choir, ship and large tower, while the bell piece, the curved gables and the spire are from the late 1500-t.
At the cemetery is built a mausoleum, built in 1825 by Preben Bille-Brahe, the count at
Hvedholm
Castle, as a tomb for his family.
Horne Book, a Gospel manuscript from the beginning of 1200 t. with volumes of about 1325, was donated the church in 1656, but came to the National Museum in 1810, when Preben Bille-Brahe to the nearby Castle Hvedholm conducted the re-engineering of the interior in Empire style and let cemetery chapel act by GF Hetsch (1825).
The altarpiece showing Christ and the Children (Let the little children come to me) was painted in 1812 in Paris by CW Eckersberg and belong to his best religious works; baptize font that has been attributed Bertel Thorvaldsen, rather from GF Hetsch.
Both the church and the round churches in Bjernede and Thorsager is built on the same floor plan as Sct. George's Church in Schlamersdorf, Wagrien. Construction of Horne Church has started as a royal chapel in the late 1100 years, during the Valdemars in choice king Duchy of time.
In 2004 Anders Thomas Jensen's film Adam's Apples (2005, Robert) recorded in and near Horne Church. Most of the film's interiors are admitted inside the church, whose interior colors are white and gray.
