Elsinore Cathedral - St. Olav's Church - named after the Norwegian King Olav the Holy, who fell at the Battle of Stiklestad in 1030. Several places in St. Olav church, we see images of Holy Olav prominent on the dragon of heathenism.

Until 1819 was St. Olav's church Elsinore only parish church. In Elsinore were in Catholic time three monasteries, all from the period 1420-30.
After the Reformation, was preserved of these only Our Lady Monastery (Carmelite Monastery) whose church,
Sct. Marie church in 1577 was converted into a German church for foreigners in the city.
In 1819 shared Skt. Olav parish in two and Sct. Mary church became the city's second parish church.
In 1958 Vestervang parish was separated as the third parish, and later came Sthens Church as the city's fourth parish.
St. Olav's Church, Elsinore Cathedral as it stands now, was completed in 1559, but its history goes back to the 1200s, when it had the size of a small Romanesque village church.
In the intervening period, alterations and additions to what St. Olav's Church is today.
In connection with the major renovation of St.. Olav's Church in the time 2000-2001, a number of the inner tombs were opened, and about 50 coffins were photographed and part was examined more closely by
Elsinore City Museum.
It turned out that the bodies were very well preserved, and the studies have been very valuable in terms of a national museum of view.
The Cathedral's new floor, which consists of concrete and bricks, the need to ensure the graves now and in the future.

September to April at. 10-14
