Yancheng New-Fourth-Army. Memorial is Located in the eastern part of the city, the Main Memorials Area consists of the Historical Data Exhibition Place, the Arms and Weapons Display Place, the Forest of Monuments and the Central Square, etc. In the city center is the Jianjun Square where stands the Rebuilt New-Fourth-Army Headquarters Memorial Tower with its subject the New-Fourth-Army Cavalry Bronze Statue as its city major symbol. Inside the Taishan Temple, which is in the western part of the city, is the Former Site of the city, is the former site of the Rebuilt New-Fourth-Army Headquarter in which former living houses, historical sources and materials and photographs of those leaders like Liu Shaoqi and Chen Yi, etc. are exhibited.
This Memorial is the only professional and special one set for the New Fourth Army nationwide which had been visited by many a CPC and Chinese leader. The General Secretary Jiang Zeming subscribed a motto for this museum, “Hero of Jianghuai, city defends country” in May 1990. on May 5, 2000, Secretary Jiang visited this museum in person again. The main hall district of memorial museum is 330 meters long from south to north; it is 110 meters wide from east to west, covers 50 acres. In the center of the square erects a monument that is 11.75 meters tall. In the face of the monument, there are the inscriptions by Li Xiannian, and inscriptions of Record of Joining Forces in Yanfu Area on reverse of it.
