Svendborg is built facing the harbour and Svendborgsund - and the
harbour front is fused together with the town, where restaurants and
cafés stretch all the way down to the quays, with a view of cargo ships,
ferries and yachts. Boat builders and wooden vessel shipyards have been
located in Svendborgsund for generations, and Svendborg is today the
country's leading modern maritime educational centre.
The southern Funen cluster of islands
From Svendborg you can visit the southern Funen cluster of islands.
Tåsinge and Thurø are the largest and both have a bridge connection to
the mainland, while charming island ferries can take you to Hjortø,
Skarø, Drejø and Ærø. The area also offers some of Denmark's best
opportunities for paddling a kayak, angling and surfing.

on the 220 km long walking path, Øhavsstien. Or visit the modern natural
history attraction Naturama, which is just 5 minutes walk from

Wood Castle] north of Svendborg or Valdemars Slot (Valdemar's Castle) on
